Training in environmental transition and conference on soils: the co-directors of SOLU-BIOD share their expertise
The SOLU-BIOD program continues its commitment to knowledge sharing and the transition from research to action. Its co-directors will soon be engaged in two key events for scientific dissemination and training.
Philip Roche, co-director of SOLU-BIOD, will speak as part of the university certificate “Environmental Transition Actor” offered by the ITEM Institute of Aix-Marseille University.
This continuing education aims to strengthen the skills of professionals, decision-makers, and local actors in addressing the challenges of environmental transition, by combining scientific contributions, feedback from experience, and operational approaches. By participating, Philip Roche will help clarify the conditions for deploying Nature-based Solutions and their implementation at the territorial level.

Martine Hossaert, co-director of the program, will speak at the Collège de France on May 5, 2026 (11:15 AM – 12:15 PM), as part of the seminar “Scientific Ecology and the Chemistry of Life: A Symbiosis at the Heart of Sustainable Development.”
Her conference, titled “Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Soils: An Essential Partnership”, will highlight the crucial role of soils in the effectiveness and sustainability of Nature-based Solutions, as well as the scientific challenges associated with their preservation and management.

Thru these two complementary interventions, one focused on training actors and the other on disseminating high-level scientific knowledge, the co-directors of SOLU-BIOD reaffirm the program’s mission: to foster dialog between research, territories, and action to accelerate the ecological transition.
