New Biodiversa+ Policy Briefs: Soils, Forests, and Nature-Based Solutions to Build Climate Resilience
Biodiversa+ has published a new series of policy briefs from the BiodivClim program, highlighting the key role of biodiversity in strengthening the resilience of European soils, forests, and landscapes in the face of climate change.
Based on recent findings from pan-European research projects, these briefs are aimed directly at policymakers and land managers, offering practical guidance for the implementation of the European Green Deal.
Three topics of particular interest to those working on Nature-based Solutions (NbS):
- The role of soil biodiversity in food production, climate change mitigation, and ecosystem restoration
- The Importance of Mixed Forests and Targeted Financial Incentives for Enhancing Forest Resilience
- How Nbs – from perennial crops to community-based practices in the Arctic – support long-term climate adaptation
A key message runs throughout the series: one-size-fits-all solutions do not work. Resilience depends on approaches tailored to local ecological and social contexts, developed in collaboration with communities, and supported by appropriate public policies.
These Policy Briefs are available in several languages and serve as a valuable resource for informing discussions and actions related to NbS, soils, forests, and climate.
