Call for Expressions of Interest from the Fondation de France: Co-Creating Knowledge for Biodiversity Conservation

The Fondation de France, in partnership with the Sciences Citoyennes association, is issuing a call for expressions of interest (CEI) to identify research teams interested in undertaking a participatory research project to identify a research question.
The research teams and association members will form a group funded by the Fondation de France to the tune of €15,000, for a maximum period of six months.
Following this initial phase, the collective will be invited to develop their consolidated participatory research project, beginning in March 2027, with financial and methodological support (2 years, up to €150,000), subject to approval by the Fondation de France’s Resilient Ecosystems Committee.
Applicants to this CEI will be expected to address one of the following two research questions:
- Planète Mer: What role do citizens’ perceptions of the marine and coastal environment play in the development and interpretation of biodiversity status indicators, and how do they contribute to the identification of trends in change?
- AFDPZ: How can we work together with all relevant stakeholders (fishermen, in situ and ex situ scientists, managers, field-based NGOs, and marine users) to develop operational solutions based on sensory ecology and cetacean cognition that can significantly reduce bycatch, drawing in particular on the experimental capabilities offered by dolphinariums and zoological centers housing cetaceans?
Find below the informational webinar and discussion session held on May 12.
🗓️ Application deadline: June 24, 2026
