Regional network of hubs of expertise
The program will establish a sustainable network of regional ‘hubs’ of experts on Nature-based Solutions.
The field of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) requires a wide range of expertise. The challenge is to foster interaction among multiple areas of expertise and to incorporate multi-stakeholder approaches. Led by Sorbonne University and co-managed by Ifremer, this strategic project will establish a national network of regional hubs dedicated to expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of NbS, bringing together academic and non-academic stakeholders.
The National Research Program on Nature-based Solutions will support regional scientists (including those in overseas territories) in collaborating with private and public sector stakeholders to co-create its frameworks. The project will radically transform access to NbS expertise at the regional level.
Regional expert hubs are modeled after GRECs—regional groups of academic and non-academic experts designed to provide information and expertise to local stakeholders. In France, this type of structure exists for climate change but not yet for biodiversity and NbS.
